OPEN and SHUT

When the Willamette Falls Locks opened up to allow the Canby Ferry downriver, the 140-year old device rekindled a debate about closing it permanently.

The locks still function as designed. That much was made clear earlier this month, when the gates in the 140-year old Willamette Falls Locks in West Linn creaked into action to allow shipping through once again.
