Canby High?School senior Thomas Sutherland (above), along with teammates Devon Fortier, Dominic Shorter and Josh Kraemer set a new school record in the 4x100-meter relay at 43.04 seconds at last week’s dual against West Linn at Cougar Stadium, besting the previous mark originally set in 1997.
While the Canby track and field program had been known for its long-distance runners in the past, the sprints have now become their staple this season.
