Bringing some light to Literature

The Canby Public Library will have recently transplanted New York author and literature critic Bill Deresiewicz in for a program on Sept. 27. His reviews and essays have been carried by the New York Times, The New Republic and The Nation.
Like most young men, Bill Deresiewicz wasn’t into reading Jane Austen novels. He said as a Jewish kid in New York City, he thought Austen’s work was “chick lit: soap-opera romance, fluffy and boring.
