Cassie Parish, 16, spends a quiet moment with her yearling mustang Shiloh during a training session Wednesday. Cassie will compete with Shiloh in the Teens and Oregon Mustangs Competition on Aug. 28 at the Yamhill County Fairgrounds, where the horse will go up for adoption.
Put a wild mustang into the hands of a 16-year-old girl and what do you get? A gentle horse. At least that's what's happened with a yearling mustang being trained by Cassie Parish, a Canby home-schooled teenager.
