Joan Reilly
   Joan Bedard Reilly, 89, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010.
   She was born Sept. 14, 1920, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, one of nine children of Dennis and Clara Bedard.
   In 1956, she married Michael Reilly. They traveled across the U.S. and Canada before settling in Oregon.
   Survivors include her husband of 54 years; daughter, Mary; son, Michael; and six grandchildren.
   The rosary will be recited Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 7 p.m. at Canby Funeral Chapel. A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, Jan. 21, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Canby.
  
Dorothy Dillon Mark
   Dorothy Mae Dillon Mark, 86, died Dec. 29, 2009, in Oregon City.
   She was born Feb. 28, 1923, in High Point, S.C., one of eight children of Bertha and Vilas Hooper.
   On Aug. 2, 1940, she married John A. Dillon Sr., and they had nine children. He died in 1971.
   In May 1972, she met Edward Mark. They were together until his death in 2006.
   A homemaker, she enjoyed scenic drives, dining out, going antiquing and shopping at Nordy’s.
   Survivors include her sons, Ben, Ted, Patrick, Mike and Ralph Dillon; daughters, Beverly Dixson, Joanne Dillon and Cindy Warren; sister, Pearlene; 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
   Her son John A. Dillon Jr. and grandson Jim Boell preceded her in death.
   A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 30, at noon at Canby American Legion Post 122.
  
Buford Turner
   Buford  “Chuck” Turner, 77, of Oregon City, died Jan. 12, 2010.
   He was born March 23, 1932, in Galveston, Texas, to Charles Edward and Ella Lou Goss Turner.
   He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952, mainly in Korea, and was injured in the line of duty.
   He retired on disability after 15 years as a meat cutter for Fred Meyer and Albertsons.
   He was a member of the Lutheran church and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling in his RV.
   Survivors include his wife, Madeline; children, Larry Turner of Tucson, Ariz., Robert Turner of Fruitland, Idaho, Don Turner of Nampa, Idaho, and Rick Schneider, Diana Long and Mark Turner, all of Oregon City; sister, Pauline Cooper of Cut and Shoot, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grand children.
   A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 22, at noon at Trinity Lutheran Church in Oregon City. Burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery.
   Memorial contributions may be made to the Chuck Turner Scholarship Fund that will be rewarded to the DAV. Funds may be sent to the Bank of the West Branch in Oregon City, 503-656-5238.
   
 
Darol Ingalls
   Darol Allen Ingalls, 62, of Canby, died Jan. 2, 2010, at a Portland care center. 
   He was born Feb. 15, 1947, in Portland and attended Canby grade and high schools, graduating in 1965.  He attended Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Wash., for two years and Oregon State University in Corvallis where he received a Bachelor of Science in 1970.
   He taught industrial arts for a year at Tuality Junior High School in Tigard and spent the summer term at the University of Alberta at Edmonton, Canada.
   He was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving 18 months in 1971 and 1972 as a specialist 4.
   After earning a master’s degree in education from OSU, he taught another year at Tuality and then three years at Valley View in Alberta, Canada.
   In 1977, he returned to Oregon to become a purchasing agent for Gage Industrial in Lake Oswego.
   In 1980, he moved to Ridgefield, Wash., where he was a purchasing agent for PDM Molding until he retired due to illness in 2008.
   He was an accomplished craftsman in furniture, boats and restoring vintage Air Stream trailers.
   Survivors include his parents, Leland and Lillian Ingalls of Canby; and brothers, Roger of Aurora and Steven of Oregon City.
   A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 30, at 11 a.m. at Zoar Lutheran Church.  Burial was at Zion Memorial Cemetery in Canby. 
   Memorial contributions may be made to the Zoar Lutheran Church Building Fund.

Johnie Owings
   Johnie Owings, 72, of Vacaville, Calif., died Jan. 8, 2010.
   He was born in 1973 in Hubbard, the second of seven children of Artie and Lula Owings. He graduated in 1955 from Canby High School where his three sport athletic career included a state wrestling championship. He was a part of the Owings brothers dynasty of seven state champions.
   He attended Oregon State University on a wrestling scholarship and played football, including the 1957 Rose Bowl game against Iowa. He also competed in national collegiate wrestling competitions.
   In 1957, he married Joann Michels in Mount Angel and went on to Chico State University where he graduated in 1960. He accepted a teaching position at College Park High School in Pleasant Hill, Calif., and remained there 37 years. He taught various subjects, including math and physical education, and coached football, wrestling and girls softball. He was inducted into the College Park Hall of Fame four days prior to his death.
   He also coached boys at St. Mary’s College in Moraga, Calif., in the 1960s and girls at Diablo Valley College.
   He enjoyed gardening, the outdoors and barbecue cooking.
   Survivors include his wife; sons, Jeff, Alan and Brian and  daughters, Nancy Correa and Linda Bajakian, all of California; his mother of Hubbard; brothers, Danny of Astoria, Gary of Wilsonville and Larry of Aurora; sisters, Annie Gilmer of Hillsboro and Cheryl Roth of Hubbard; and seven grandchildren.
   A funeral Mass was held Jan. 15 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vacaville.
   Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
