No. 4 Canby entered Friday's game hoping to beat Tualatin for the fourth consecutive time and put a stranglehold on its goal of a Pacific Conference championship.

And the Cougars came out firing, scoring touchdowns on their first five possessions of the game en route to a 41-26 victory over Tualatin at Canby High School.

Senior quarterback Josh Yoder was 18 of 23 for 275 yards and three touchdowns. Senior Ryan Wall had three catches for 105 yards and two touchdowns, and senior Cody Smith had five catches for 77 yards and a score.

The Cougars (6-1 overall, 3-0 Pacific) need two more wins to secure the outright conference title, which begins next week against Tigard at home on Friday at 7 p.m.

/> Canby senior linebacker Marco Zamora picked off Tualatin junior quarterback Matt Yarbrough with 18 seconds remaining in the game and raced back 42 yards for the game-clinching touchdown.

Junior Adam Bell scored the opening touchdown on a 13-yard run with 9:18 remaining in the first quarter for a 7-0 lead. Tualatin answered when Yarbrough snuck in for a 1-yard touchdown run to tie the game, 7-7, with 6:27 left.

Bell then scored on a 3-yard run with 2:14 to go in the first quarter for a 14-7 advantage.  Yarbrough replied with a 20-yard scoring run but a missed extra point still gave Canby a 14-13 lead.

The Cougars' passing attack then got going. Yoder first connected with Smith on a 32-yard touchdown pass for a 20-13 lead. Yoder then hooked up with Wall for a 30-yard touchdown pass and a 74-yard scoring completion to enter halftime with a 34-13 lead.

The Timberwolves cut Canby's deficit to 34-26 when Yarbrough scored on a 7-yard run and senior Sean Acosta scored on a 1-yard run.

Tualatin had a chance to tie the game when it got the ball back with 1:34 remaining in the game before Zamora's interception and first varsity touchdown of his career.
