The Canby boys soccer team continued making progress in league play last week, defeating Oregon City 3-0 at home Oct. 9.
It was the first shutout victory of the season for the Cougars (3-6-2, 3-3-1 in the Three Rivers League), who have earned a win or tie in four of their last five games after dropping their first two conference matches.

Former Canby High School principal Bob Christiansen
was recently inducted into the Portland Interscholastic League's Athletic Hall of
Fame.
He was one 51 athletes and coaches
in the 2012 induction class honored at Oct.

It was another typically rocky week in conference play for the Canby girls soccer team.
The Cougars fell 2-0 at home Oct. 16 against a West Linn team they had defeated by the same score last month, then responded with a 4-3 win two days later against a Lake Oswego side to which they lost by three goals in the teams' first meeting.

Five fall sports teams at Canby
High School were recognized for
their academic achievements this month by the Oregon School Activities
Association and the Dairy Farmers of Oregon.

team earned a collective grade-point average of 3.89 this fall, the best mark
in Class 4A and No. 5 overall in the state.

had a roller coaster of a week.
It defeated seventh-ranked Molalla 3-2 at home Oct. 2, then
gave up four goals in the first half of a 6-0 blowout loss to sixth-ranked Gladstone
on the road two days later.

After a one-year absence, the Canby volleyball team is back in the playoffs.
The Cougars, who won just one league game all year, surged into the Class 6A postseason with a dominant 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-9) sweep of South Eugene in a play-in match at home Monday night.

Well aware of the Pacers’ high-powered attack, the Cougars
stymied it with their best defensive performance of the year and clambered
their way to a dominant 43-7 victory in their last home game of the regular
