Sports in brief: Canby boys soccer, North Marion girls soccer and more

The Canby boys soccer team continued making progress in league play last week, defeating Oregon City 3-0 at home Oct. 9. It was the first shutout victory of the season for the Cougars (3-6-2, 3-3-1 in the Three Rivers League), who have earned a win or tie in four of their last five games after dropping their first two conference matches.



Christiansen, former Canby principal, joins Portland Interscholastic League hall of fame

Former Canby High School principal Bob Christiansen was recently inducted into the Portland Interscholastic League's Athletic Hall of Fame. He was one 51 athletes and coaches in the 2012 induction class honored at Oct.

It was another typically rocky week in conference play for the Canby girls soccer team. The Cougars fell 2-0 at home Oct. 16 against a West Linn team they had defeated by the same score last month, then responded with a 4-3 win two days later against a Lake Oswego side to which they lost by three goals in the teams' first meeting.
