Canby Kiwanis and the Canby business community have named Kim McKie its January teacher of the month. The Canby Area Recognition of Excellence award is given to teachers and staff who excel in educating children by building a foundation that supports a lifelong love of learning, challenges the children to strive for better and enhances their lives — one student at a time.

The Canby School District has set the dates for its kindergarten roundup registration program. The registration for kindergarten begins May1. Parents can check with the district office to find out which district they live in.

Baker Prairie Middle School will host Olympic track and field distance runner Lopez Lomong Thursday, March 21.
Lomong just set an American record in the 5,000 meters with a time of 13:06.
