On the Ropes

Thanks to a grant from the Canby Educational Foundation, sixth-grade teacher Kim Kent, took her Knight Elementary School students to Salem to learn the ropes in what her students call a “mind-boggling” experience“It was the best field trip ever,” Kent said.



CHS Speech team talks its way to a win

The Canby High School Speech Team brought home top awards at its first tournament recently.Thirteen students competed — eleven for the very first time —  and Canby took second place overall.



Canby School Board meets Thursday

Our Town continues its run this weekend

Canby High School’s production of “Our Town” at the Richard R. Brown Fine Arts Center opened last Friday to rave reviews. The play continues its run Friday and Saturday this coming weekend.



'Cinderella' to open at North Marion

North Marion High School will present Rodgers’ and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” Nov. 16-17 at 7:30 p.m.Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students and seniors.



CHS Band marches to wins, plans concert

November is a particularly busy month for the Canby High School Band. The CHS marching band placed first in its division, marching in the Albany Veteran’s Day Parade.

Canby High School presented the Student of the Month Award for November to 12 students last week. Each student is nominated by a CHS teacher. The November Students of the Month are, Front row: Clarice Benz, Mary Katherine Horst, Dayla DeVore, Antonia Barron and Ashley Harris; Back row: Sarah Mathieson, Nathan Kromer, David Rowell, Jesse Coyle and Felipe Teran Camacho.

Big winners at Ninety-One earn long ride

The Ninety-One School PTA hosted its annual jog-a-thon fundraiser where students worked to collect pledges from family, friends and community members. Last week, the children celebrated raising a record-setting $15,682.
