Lisa Erwert
   Oregon Tech
Erwert, a senior softball player at Oregon Institute of Technology, was selected to the third-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American squad.
Her selection to the District 8 College Division First Team made her eligible as a selection by ESPN. The team is made up of NCAA II, NCAA III and NAIA colleges.
A four-year starter for OIT, Erwert led the Owls to a 37-6 overall and 17-2 conference record in 2006. She recorded a team-high batting average of .451 while hitting eight home runs, 12 doubles, driving in 45 runs and scoring 37 for the conference champions.
In the classroom Erwert maintained a 3.70 grade point average in the Radiological Science field.

Dennis Brands, a sophomore at University of Montana in Missoula, was selected to the Big Sky Conference Winter All-Academic Team. Brands, whose major is health and human performance, held a 3.78 GPA to earn the honor.

   University of Buffalo
Barstad, a junior, was the top pitcher for the University of Buffalo softball team this season and compiled a 13-22 record with a 3.04 ERA. The Bulls finished 16-42 on the year and 5-15 in the Mid-American Conference.
She led the team in every single pitching category, including strikeouts (137) and complete games (21).
In the final game of the year, Barstad held Miami of Ohio to two hits in a 6-0 Bulls win.
At the plate, Barstad was one of the team’s top power hitters. She hit six home runs on the year with a team-high 27 RBI.
While at Canby, Barstad helped the Cougars to a state championship.
   Luke Sommer
   University of San Francisco
Sommer, a sophomore outfielder for University of San Francisco’s baseball team, played a big role in the Dons’ most successful baseball season ever.
Sommer ended the year with a .263 batting average and 32 RBI, the third highest total on the team.
Sommer also made one pitching appearance, in which he threw four innings and allowed just one run.
USF ended the season with a 39-23 record after being eliminated by Manhattan in an NCAA regional elimination game. It was San Francisco’s first appearance in the NCAA Regionals.
   Jaime Raines
   Wichita State
Raines, a sophomore at Wichita State University in Kansas, competed in nine tournaments for the Wichita State women’s golf team and finished with an average score of 80.7.
