In this week's issue (Aug. 12)

Wednesday August 12, 2009 02:03 PM (pst)

In the Aug. 12 weekday issue of the Canby Herald, we'll take a new look at the future for athletics at North Marion High School.

The high school hired new athletic director Andy Jones, and that name should be familiar to those in the area.

Jones was a former boys basketball coach at North Marion, and assisted at various other schools including Canby under current AD Dennis Burke. Most recently, he was coaching at Kennedy High School in Mt. Angel.

We'll also take a look at the JV2 soccer program situation at Canby High School. Due to recent budget cuts, the JV2 soccer programs for both boys and girls were slashed but there is optimism that they will be brought back in time for fall.

We'll also recap the Clackamas County Junior Baseball season for area teams at Canby and North Marion, and how each team fared this summer.

The rodeo begins next Tuesday, so watch for coverage of the event here on the site with photos and updated results. We'll have a preview of the rodeo in next week's issue of the Canby Herald.
